So my raspberry pi has worked well for the past 6+ months, it has been off for ~two months and now I cant log into it any more. It comes up with {none} login and wont accept my user name. Any ideas?
If you plug the HDMI output up to a monitor and boot it does it post and you see it loading the OS fine?
Do you see the services (such as ssh, etc) booting at startup?
If so, a fsck on the /dev directory might have corrupted the passwd file, in this case, you should boot in single user mode and try to check the files related to login.

It appears my SD card died, a new one seems to have solved the issue.
